The fall of the Assad regime on December 8, 2024 is historic both for Syria and on a global scale. This roundtable brings together experts on Syria from academia and civil society to discuss these recent developments as well as the current political and societal situation in Syria. The roundtable will focus on questions such as: How can we understand the process of the Assad regime's fall? Who are the new power holders in Damascus? What will be essential, after decades of authoritarian rule and conflict, to create a path toward a peaceful and viable future for the country?
